RN-Yuganskneftegaz, Rosneft’s largest oil production enterprise, transitioned part of its oil and gas production facilities to centralised power supply by the end of 2023. It allowed to reduce the use of diesel generators sets at the fields by 39%. The monetary equivalent of the effect was approximately 2.8 billion roubles.
Improvement of production asset efficiency is one of the key priorities of Rosneft's strategy. The Company's enterprises systematically implement measures to improve energy efficiency and reduce fuel and energy resources, as well as to optimise grid loads and heat processes.
Last year, RN-Yuganskneftegaz commissioned over 200 km of overhead power lines and 25 transformer substations. Centralized power infrastructure expansion makes it possible to effectively replace the local power supply system used in the construction of well pads at remote fields. The cost of electricity produced by the diesel generators sets is five times higher than the cost of electricity from the Russian power grid. In addition, reducing the number of diesel generators decreases carbon dioxide emissions and minimises the impact on the ambient air in the production region.
RN-Yuganskneftegaz generates more than 21% of total electricity consumption at its own power plants. Priobskaya and Prirazlomnaya power plants cumulatively generated more than 2.7 billion kWh of electricity in 2023. The stations use associated petroleum gas as fuel, which helps to increase the level of its useful utilisation and preserve the environment in the operating region.
Thanks to timely and high-quality scheduled preventive maintenance of power equipment, a high level of reliable and uninterrupted power supply to RN-Yuganskneftegaz' drilling and oil production facilities was achieved.
