Igor Sechin, Chief Executive Officer of Rosneft, and Mikhail Kotyukov, Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, held a working meeting to discuss cooperation between the Company and the regional government.
The Krasnoyarsk Region is a strategic operating region for Rosneft. The region is home to the Company's major enterprises, including RN-Vankor, Vostsibneftegaz, Slavneft-Krasnoyarskneftegaz, Achinsk Refinery, and the Company's service, sales and logistics enterprises. It is also the place where Vostok Oil, the largest investment project in the global energy sector, is being carried out.
During the meeting, Igor Sechin and Mikhail Kotyukov discussed the prospects of implementing strategically important projects of the Company, including infrastructural initiatives, and highlighted Rosneft's significant contribution to the regional economy, in particular, its high level of participation in financing social programmes contributing to the comprehensive development of the Krasnoyarsk Region.
Sechin underlined that Rosneft is the largest taxpayer in the region - the Company transferred more than 67 billion rubles of tax payments to the regional budget in 2023, which is 16% of all its revenues. Rosneft also actively cooperates with regional enterprises and supports local suppliers and contractors. Last year, the Company signed contracts with the region's enterprises worth almost 50 billion roubles.
The Company's subsidiaries employ over 28,000 people in the Krasnoyarsk region. ‘We plan that by the end of 2024 the number of employees at our enterprises will approach 40,000. Such a significant growth is primarily due to the implementation of the large-scale Vostok Oil project,’ Igor Sechin noted.
Rosneft assists the regional authorities in the social and economic development of the Krasnoyarsk Region and strengthening social stability. The Company supports the regional programme for resettlement of citizens from dilapidated housing on the Taimyr Peninsula. ‘The implementation of this social project, aimed at improving housing conditions for the region's residents, fully meets the goals and objectives set by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin in his Address to the Federal Assembly this year,’ the Rosneft head said.
Rosneft implements a massive support program for educational institutions in Krasnoyarsk Territory to ensure integrated training of qualified labour and engineering force for the Vostok Oil project. A unique Corporate Training Centre with a practical training ground equipped with real production equipment is under construction in Krasnoyarsk with the support of the regional Government.
In addition, in cooperation with the Government of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Rosneft initiated the implementation of a comprehensive environmental forestation project in the region. The expected impact of the project is an increase in greenhouse gas sequestration of 10 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent over the life of the project.
